Stand High Patrol "Skanking and Jacking" Vinyl
Description
Dub and House Music. Two aesthetics born in the shadows, shaped far from the dominant industries. Two scenes emerging from the margins, placing dance, sound systems, and minorities at the center. From Jamaican sound system sessions to the nights at Chicago’s Warehouse, House, Reggae, and Dub share far more than one might imagine. It is there, at the crossroads of these lines, driven by this thirst for experimentation, that the members of Stand High Patrol have found yet another terrain to map out. Skanking & Jacking, the new album from the Musketeerz, presents a facet of Dubadub never before heard on record.
Designed for the dancefloor and for DJs, the LP uniquely combines the pulsations of House music with the vibrations and groove of Reggae. The result of meticulous attention to the blending of styles in both composition and mixing, House, Reggae, and Dub merge throughout 12 long-form tracks. The sound is crafted with depth, built on immersive loops. Pierced by micro-variations, it acquires an almost organic texture born from man/machine interactions. Here, we don't just bring worlds together; we mobilize influences to design a new sonic space.
Beyond the aesthetic gesture, Skanking & Jacking also stands out for its international casting, the most extensive ever assembled by Stand High Patrol on an album format. On the mic, Joe Yorke, Marina P, Nazamba, and Jah Thomas accompany the Dubadub Musketeerz in their explorations, redefining the project's contours with each appearance.
Never static, always in motion, Skanking & Jacking pays tribute to the traditions that nourished it and concludes, as a final wink, with remixes by Jeanville, Androo, and the legendary Mad Professor. A new testament to the versatility of a crew that has not finished reinventing itself, it will be available on May 29th!
