DO not DO

When the Jazzmaster meets old-school synths and electronic beats, the result can only be exhilarating and intoxicating.

That result is DO not DO, a band formed in August 2021 by Romy and Iskander, two 23-year-old musicians with very different musical backgrounds. Romy grew up listening to soul and funk, with artists such as Amy Winehouse, Jamiroquai and Outkast as key influences, while Iskander channelled his energy through a rock band inspired by Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes and Sonic Youth.

Meeting at the crossroads of rock, electro, funk, synthwave and alternative hip hop, the duo has preserved the essence of groove-driven music while giving it an electronic edge. Their sound combines strong songwriting with memorable hooks and hypnotic melodies rooted in indie rock and pop.

DO not DO is the collision of electronic and synthetic textures with the raw spirit and intensity of abrasive rock. The opposite is equally true: they remain a rock band, enhanced by digital beats and electronic production.

Through their music, DO not DO gives voice to the struggles and aspirations of a generation living through the end of an era, caught between carefree hedonism and a desire for change.

Universal and cosmopolitan, the band reflects its time with a sound that is both ambitious and accessible.
