Dooz Kawa returns to the roots of his artistry with Étoiles du sol, his very first, seminal album, originally released in 2010 and now a landmark in French underground rap. It was during a joint concert with Biréli Lagrène at the Cheval Blanc in Schiltigheim that the rapper had his fateful encounter with Mito Loeffler, an exceptional Gypsy guitarist.
From this connection between poetic lyrics and virtuosic guitar playing emerged a unique work, fusing the melancholy of gypsy jazz with the power of hip-hop rhythms. The album features Biréli Lagrène himself on “Narcozik,” Mandino Reinhardt on “Balalaïka,” and Mito Loeffler on “Parker Charlie” and “Demi Monde.”
